P10B Update #3

27 Feb

Celebration is in order! According to the rules set forth in my first P10B post, I’ve finished P10B! I needed to finish 10 items (amended to 12 to make up for breaking the project) and eight had to be from the original P10B list.  I’m surprised how quickly P10B items have gone. Since I counted two minis/travel size/deluxe sample size items as one, it was much easier than I thought to use up some of the things I’ve been holding on to.  I don’t travel much (unfortunately) so there was no reason to be “saving them”.

Hair:  This month I went through quite a few hair products.  I finished the Paul Mitchell Firm Style hairspray, which was anything but, and the Extra Body Thickening Serum which just made my hair look and feel dry.  I also used up a Nioxin hair booster which I don’t think did anything, but it did feel kind of cool and tingly when applied.  One of my regular styling products (when I actually style my hair) is the Osis+ Dust it hair texturizing powder, it’s great for adding body to clean hair.  I will always repurchase this & I found a seller on Amazon that sells it in 3packs which was a great deal. My favorite new product was the Number 4 Lumiere d’hiver Super Comb Prep & Protect which was a light leave-in conditioning spray.  It was very moisturizing without being heavy and it smelled lovely.  I dont think I will repurchase because it’s very expensive ($32 for 200ml), but I did love what the product did for my hair so  I purchased the Matrix Hydratherapie Daily Leave-in Tonic which is quite similar- a little less moisturizing so I just use a few more sprays- and a great value at $17 for 500ml. (To explain: I had used up about half of the Number4 and then liked it so saved the rest and bought the Biolage well before this project started. No breaking the project!).  I also finished a Tresseme shampoo & a Oscar Blandi shampoo sample both of which I liked.

Skin: I used up the Biore Pore Unclogging Scrub which I hated (I didn’t choose it).  I have much better exfoliators, I didn’t like that it was mentholated, and I noticed no change in my pores. I hate it so much that now the smell turns my stomach…blech. I did really like the Olay cream cleanser but I like the Murad one I’m using now much better.  I also finished the L’Oreal Collagen Moisture Filler Moisturizer which I loved…and then hated…and then loved.  It’s quite thick so at times it can be a bit heavy for my combination skin, but it is a great night cream & I liked it used on the neck and decollete during the day. I also used up a DS of the Snowberry Lite Day Cream (I accidentally tossed the tube): I hated the texture, the smell, and the fact that it instantly made my skin super oily. The other moisturizer I finished was 2 DS of the Sephora Instant Moisturizer which I have now purchased. My favorite item that I tried was the Lancome BiFacil Double Action Makeup Remover which was phenomenal at removing waterproof makeup but is too expensive considering how fast I go through makeup remover.

Body: I finished the BBW body wash in Japanese Cherry Blossom and Philosophy 3 in 1 in Inner Grace, both of which smell lovely and I will probably buy from both places again.  I used up the Lubriderm Daily Moisture Lotion on my hands and the Gilchrist & Soames Aqua Lime Body butter which were both underwhelming moisturizers.  I finished up a Fresh Hesperides Grapefruit Soap (not pictured, obviously) which I loved the scent of, but I don’t really care for bar soaps much.  The last thing I finished was the Victoria’s Secret “At First Sight” lotion which was my last of this now-discontinued scent.  It’s described as a romantic mix of violet and bergamot. Ah, it smelled divine. I had stocked up at one of the semi-annual sales when the “At first sight” line was like $3 a piece.  I feel like VS is so quick to discontinue their product lines that I just find something that I love right before it’s discontinued.  I’m still holding a grudge for their discontinuing the VS Naturally line.

November Empties

8 Dec

I love love love to read monthly empties posts.  I like to see what other people have liked enough to completely use up.  Some things, I’ve tried and hated, others I own but have forgotten about, and still others are items I’d like to try in the future.

Here’s what I finished up this month & if I’d repurchase or not:

1. Jergens Skin Firming Body Lotion [500ml]: I’ve repurchased this a few times & I really (think) that it does temporarily add a bit of firmness to the skin.  The effect only lasts a couple hours though.  I’ll probably wait to rebuy until it’s shorts weather here in South Dakota

2. Bio Oil [4.2 oz]: I got this to help fade some scars from some cuts and burns. A closet door fell on my arm & the gash left a dark (but thankfully flat scar) & I got a chemical burn thanks to my orgo lab partner a couple years ago & have another dark flat scar on my other arm.  I didn’t notice a difference because I was terrible at remembering to apply it every day.  I got some Mederma to try on the scar, but i’ll probably repurchase the bio oil, because I could use it all over my body.  It was nicely moisturizing as a body oil & to me it smells faintly like cinnamon imperials. I just need to be consistent in application before I pass judgment.

3 &4. Matrix Biolage Hydratherapie Shampoo & Conditioning Balm [500 ml]: Super hydrating without making hair limp.  I already repurchased the litre size of both.

5. Heel to Toe Moisturizing Foot Repair [2 oz]: I think this was free at Sally’s if you bought something else?  It was rubbish & the smell was cloying.

6. Om SHE Aromatherapy Rose & Lychee Body Wash [500 ml]: This smelled absolutely divine.  Fruity and floral without one overpowering the other.  It didn’t leave a film or dry out my skin & I never got tired of the scent.  I’ll be looking for this on my next trip to TJ Maxx

7. Diptyque Volutes EDT Deluxe Sample: This took like two weeks to use up.  All of these little perfume vials take me ages to use since I only use about two spritzes at a time.  I don’t like to be heavily perfumed.  I hated this perfume: I couldn’t smell the tobacco or iris, just a super strong powdery smell.

8&9. Seche Vite: I had two mostly used bottles that I finished. I’ve repurchased multiples but for now I’m going with Poshe.  I’m sure I’ll get it again in the near future.

9. Aveda Volumizing Tonic: Love it & already had another.

10&11Aveda Damage Remedy Shampoo & Conditioner: The conditioner was nice, but the shampoo was rubbish.  Didn’t clean my hair at all & left my scalp feeling gross & greasier than before showering

12. LoveSpell Lotion: I’ll buy another when they go on offer.

13. Beauty Secrets Acetone Remover: Works fantastic at removing all nail varnishes, even heavy glitter.  I repurchased a larger size

14. Finger Paints Top Coat: Used over dry polish to refresh manicure. Nothing special & I wouldn’t rebuy it.

15. Garnier Refreshing Remover Makeup Towlettes: My HG makeup remover wipe

Makeup items!

16. Stila Convertible Color Eyes in Indigo: Loved the liner, iffy on the shadow…it was too pink for my liking.  I already had another one of these in my stash.

17, 18, & 19. Stila Lip Glazes in Brown Sugar, Vanilla, and Camera:

20. Mary Kay Nourishine Lip Gloss in Cafe Au Lait: This was a pretty mauve shade.  I wouldn’t & didn’t buy it though.  It came as a bonus item with a pair of shoes from Zappos. Weird.

21-25. 20 foil sachets of Cleansers, moisturizers, serums, makeup primers, foundations, lip products, etc.

Ohhhh MY. That’s a lot of stuff. And none of it counts towards P10P or P10B.
